There are many pet foods out there, complete, tinned even BARF or raw food feeding.
So what do you feed your golden on,? have you had any experiences that you can share with us all,has your golden developed an allergy and you have had to change the food or have you taken the plunge and gone onto the BARF diet, I know so many people that have and they say the difference in their dogs is amazing....
Share with us your experiences and maybe we can all learn from them.

I had a German Shepherd pup who was never away from the vets with skin and bladder problems. She was on Royal Canin as this was used by the breeder. After reading how well others were doing on the BARF system, I too changed to this way of feeding. What a change, she never whent back to the vet again. I now have an ESS and a Golden Retriever both recue dogs, I have them both on BARF and so far doing great.

Little Toby is on James Wellbeloved and is thriving on it. The girls are on Chappie Complete. Ben used to have a delicate tummy and he used to have Chappie as well.

The trouble we have is that Toby is convinced he is a grown-up puppy dog and should be on Chappie and the girls think they are puppies and should be on JW!! :D

BARF = Bones and Raw food,...I know people who feed their dogs on this and they thrive..a friend of mine who has 2 goldens feeds both of hers on this, raw chicken wings etc, it is going abck to the days before complete food, I do feed mine on mince etc but it is cooked and they both love fish, tuna, sardines etc, that is the closest I get... :)

I don't think I would like to feed my dogs on the BARF diet sounds awful.
But luckily we are not all alike. My dogs are quite happy and healthy on their complete food.

My two would have the 'squits' if I fed them on raw meat, I've just started cooking a curry for our tea, the girls have the trimmed bits of beef but I cook it first then add it gradually over a couple of days to their food otherwise it throws their digestive system into chaos, I also give them an omega 3 capsule, garlic capsule and Ginnie has a Glucosamine and Chrondroitin capsule in her breakfast of JWB, and dinner is more JWB, with couple of spoons of tuna in it, but I don't feed them the quantity that JWB recomend otherwise they would be as fat as pigs, Cobi has a slight tendency to put more weight on than Ginnie over the winter, even though she runs like the wind. They get treats of corned beef or cheese in a kong, (not everyday) or chews, dog biscuits etc., Cobi usually comes to tell me it's her dinnertime and can be quite vocal and cheeky when I tell her that her she's too early!

The labs are on chappie complete - if we give them anything else, they get the runs! they certainly seem to thrive on it though.

Toby - our golden, is 10months now - he's on Pero labrador life.. more expensive than chappie but its got all the stuff in that is good for his joints so well worth the extra cost in the long term and he is also thriving on it..

For anyone interested in Pero - there is a link on the home page - orders are delivered to your door and the service is first class..

hi, charlies was on bakers but have changed him onto burns chicken and rice, have noticed he does'nt seem as hypo and his poo is a lot better.

he also has brown rice and chicken or fish with veg.

i have noticed the pero link on the home page and was thinking of trying the pero lab.

i agree it is a mine field with that many different dog foods out there, its a case of trial and error.

Our two love pero

Hello Lisa, our two love pero but we find it difficult to get where we live, I know that they deliver it, we're away so much from April until October caravanning, our two have James Wellbeloved, Ginnie now has senior light as there is not quite so much protein and Cobi the senior version, no problems in the pooh stakes only if they have had something which they don't normally have, i.e., lots of bits of meat at Mums on a Sunday or some of these dental bone type stix, ok with the nylabones though, or if they have 'thieved' something from the worktop!!! which should have been ours.
