Retriever Rescue

I originally posted this on another page under the heading of 'Bereavement'. I thought it would be appropriate to copy it here.
We were given these words when he had one of our Golden Retrievers cremated, didn't help a lot at the time but we keep going back to them.

and pain should keep me from my sleep
then you must do what must be done
for this, the last battle, can't be won.
You will be sad, I understand,
don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest
your love and friendship stand the test.
We've had so many happy years
what is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want to suffer so,
when the time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend,
only stay with me, until the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me
until my eyes no longer see.

that is a beautiful poem and so true, thank you for putting on here.x

Have read this one before, and it's still brought tears. For those who have been down that road, it is still so raw when you read such beautiful words. I often think, time doesn't heal. it just gets easier to bear the pain. These words mean so much, and I'm sure if animals could talk, they then would say them too.

The memories it brought back ,made tears in my eyes, Im sure we all feel the same, we will never forget our lost ones.
