Barney

Dedicated to Barney, 1998 - 7th December 2009

"I do believe with all my heart, that your soul has gone to be,
With all the other angel dogs, that you were meant to see.
We will have to stay behind, until God calls us too,
So do not be afraid, that he's only called for you.
The water is still, in the pond that you played,
And your bed is so empty, where your pretty head laid.
Our bed is to empty, where you once laid between,
the two people who LOVED you and now only dream,
That one day our eyes will shut one last time,
and you will come greet us, angel of mine.
Until then, I'll keep trying to see through my tears,
with memories you left us, to reflect through the years.
We'll never forget one minute we spent,
of loving and laughing, of places we went.
But one day will come, when we'll start to see through,
the pain of the moment, and remember just "you".
Now you go and play, and look down when you can,
remembering we love you, and this isn't the end."

Love Karen on behalf of your Mum and Dad

Barney
1999 - 2005

Our dear dear Barney.

We had the honour of becoming Barney's new family in 2000.

He was indeed an absolute gentleman, who dripped devotion from every hair, and was eternally forgiving of us humans and all our flaws.

Will never be forgotten, will never be replaced, and always in our hearts.

Ben

Ben was our lovely Golden Boy -

He came to live with us when he was 2 from Retriever Rescue and died unexpectedly when he was 6..

Ben was the most wonderful dog there could ever be

He is missed every day

Run free at the brige my boy

Love Ian & Carolyn

Bonnie

A sad day as I have had to say good-bye to my lovely Bonnie. It is doubly sad as it is so near the anniversary of John's death and she was so wonderful with him when he was so ill. She was constantly by his side nudging his hand gently to let him know she was there and he thought the world of her. She was also there for me in the dark days that followed.

She has been going downhill for a while now but she had a stroke and was so weak there was no other way.

Earlier today Tessa & Duke had been laid on either side of her as if to let her know they were there for her. This is something they have never done before.

We will all miss her so much.

Jan Robinson

Chance

Chance came into the doggie world on 18th August 1995 and came to our home 10 weeks later.  He had nearly 14 wonderful years with us but sadly on the 20th April 2009 we had to say “Goodbye”. He had recovered from a stroke just after Christmas only to be later diagnosed with Cancer.

Having undergone one long operation and was getting back to his old self, the Cancer returned 4 weeks later.  We didn’t want to see him suffer so he walked into the vets with dignity, wagging his tail as he always did.

Our home is so empty without him.  We will always remember him and love him forever.

Now he is in doggie heaven and making lots of new friends.

He was our Monster…..

What a good girl and good looks as well,

Missed very much,
dad on his own now

Charlie

This is our dog Charlie, we had him for 9 wonderful years.

We lost him suddenly on the 16th March 2009.

He was a fantastic friend and was loved so much,  we miss him terribly, he will be in our hearts forever.

Jan & Ron Jobson

Charlie 2004-2010

Our beautiful Charlie was the best gift to us who constantly gave us unconditional love and took a place in our hearts.

From August 2009, he was castrated, had half his lung removed, bitten by a snake, and his immune system started to fail. He was put on steroids which made him keep going up and down, but he was finally getting better.
Unfortunately, he fell really ill after having an anphalatic shock (allergic reaction) and on Saturday 19th June at 16:39pm he passed away in our arms which we think was due to a heart attack.

We will miss our little boy, but now hes waiting for us at rainbow bridge. We love you Charlie, but we never thought you would be taken from us at 5years old.

Your in our hearts today, tommorow and forever.

Lots of Love Mum, Dad, Jon, Chris and Liz

Our much loved Chester - he was just perfect, so loyal and lovable - he was a member of our family and our house is not the home it was.  We adopted Chester (previously known as JonJo) from the Golden Retriever Rescue and from the moment we met it was love at first sight for all of us.  We will never be able to replace Chester he was one in a million and wagging his tail, even though in much pain, right to the very end.  Chester is now playing  with his new friends in doggie heaven - barking, playing and running like he always loved to do.  We miss him so much but the pain we are feeling now is worth all the wonderful happy memories we have of our wonderful Chester.

Our son Charlie feels like he has lost a brother as they shared so much together - every holiday we had as a family, appearing in the local press, on RCPCA educational DVDs and on the TV with Chester to fund raise for various charities.  Charlie insists on getting up every morning at 6am to go on the walks he once shared with Chester.

Chester sadly died on 5th March 2010 - greatly loved and sadly missed but we have lots of happy memories and he will never be forgotten.

Deebur

We adopted our sweet girl Deeber through Jan Robinson at 18mths, she had already had a litter and was handed over as no longer wanted. The previous owners I believe kept some of the pups and the sire to the pups.

From the moment we saw her we fell in love with her and were elated to bring her home to be part of our family. She brought laughter and a lot of joy into our lives, she had partially eaten £30 in notes a few weeks after her arrival, this was the only time she did this we're not sure why she did as never showed any signs of chewing etc.

Deeber loved her walks and especially loved going to Dove Dale so she could swim and has spent many happy hours there. We never knew her to bark, growl or be aggressive in any way throughout her life. Visitors were always welcomed with a smile and a big wagging tail, but then she would as she thought all visitors had come to see her :o)

Had I wanted to I could have rehomed her 100's of times,

I have had dogs from being 2yrs old and am now hitting the big 60 next yr and in all that time I have never met a dog with such a big heart and sweet nature as my big girl. I know it may have been said many times about many dogs but everyone meeting her fell in love.

She learnt how to be a great help to me, she would take washing out of the machine for me. If I dropped something she would pick it up, she'd happily collect post and the remote, plodding along with a wagging tail which surprisingly never threw her off course LOL.  She was an absolute joy to be with, all she asked for was to be loved, walked and fed.

When we adopted her Jan advised her to be an only dog and we kept to that until almost 3 yrs ago. My sister was going on holiday and we offered to look after her 6mth old Dog DeBordeaux for 2 weeks. Not expecting Deeber to want anything to do with him imagine our suprise when she began to chase him around the house and garden playing. She'd always played with us but never even gave other dogs a look when we were out. They spent a great 2wks together playing and sleeping and generally keeping the builders here at the time pleasantly occupied with their antics.

After Reo went home we thought she would be happy to get back to being the centre of attention but sadly soon showed signs of missing him. we gave it a few months but she still moped around. We talked long and hard, I knew I couldn't cope with 2 large dogs as I had done yrs before so we contacted the Shih Tzu rescue we had adopted dogs from before having Deeber. They did have a young dog in looking for a home, they hit it off from the beginning and spent hrs cuddle up together, she was back to her old self. A yr later Deeber started to find it difficult to run about as arthritis had set in and she was developing heart and kidney problems. Paddington was missing his playtime with Deeber and we adopted two more Shiddies over the next few months and a couple of months ago a funny gorgeous Lhasa girl, Georgia. They all got on extremely well no quarrels just happy to share beds and cuddles.

Although Paddington was himself getting a bit to stiff to play running around Zebedee and Megan kept up the chase with Georgia joining in when she came to us. Megan was an ex breeding bitch from a puppy farm who had been treated appallingly but from the moment she met Deeber she had found her soul mate. They adored each other and Megan would run to be with Deeber if she felt insecure. As you can see in the pic Deeber was the big cuddle Moma to her. She was fantastic with our small dogs helping to give them confidence and security and it was so wonderful to see how she would have them all around her. She was so gentle and when laying down with them would get down slowly so as not to lay on them but then they'll all end up one big furry lump.  When we took them to Dove Dale she would keep coming back to them to go into the water with her but only Megan took up the offer :o)

Sadly over the past few months her health deteriorated and it was hard to see her struggling to get up, she would wag her tail when we took out the leads but would only be able to walk a short distance before the pain took over. It had to be little and often to keep her weight from getting to much. She stopped wanting to go in the car and wasn't comfy on journeys despite a large duvet to lay on and Neil was having to lift her in and out. She became incontinent, she couldn't help it, to see her face was heart breaking it was as if she was saying I'm sorry. We wanted her last few days with us to be peaceful and be able to make them special for her. Sadly it coincided with bonfire season, she'd always been unhappy with fireworks going off, the vets gave us sedatives to help keep her calm but on 2 nights she was so afraid of the loud bangs and stressed she was hyperventalating her eyes rolling and her tongue went blue. We had to call the vet out who sedated her further, on Monday 5th November the vet said she just couldn't take anymore stress and her health problems were getting worse. We had to make the heartbreaking decision to let our sweet girl go to the bridge. We had one more night with her, we stayed with her downstairs, both Georgia and Megan wouldn't leave her side and were cuddled up to their cuddle monster

I held her in my arms as she slipped quietly away on Tuesday 6th November whispering to her to go towards the bridge and run free no more pain. Our vet is very good and both her and the nurse kept quiet and stayed out of her vision so she only saw and heard me.

It was so hard to come home without my sweet big girl, we loved her and miss her so much and it hurts.

Wherever we go in the house or car there are things to remind us of her, she was so special. Each morning when my stair lift glides downstairs she would sit at the bottom, tail wagging, face smiling and 'talking' with her front feet padding away. Now it's quiet with the little ones looking around for her. They too keep looking up when a door opens expecting her to come through it. Her lead and now her collar are hanging next to the others and I have to stop myself from picking it up with them.

Defa

We got Defa as an eight week old puppy

and he gave us fifteen years of pleasure, a constant and loving companion.

He had a good life with us and it was with so much pain and sadness that we lost him at the end of November 2008.

Defa will always be in our hearts and minds

Run free lovely boy

Gem

Otherwise known as 'Puppy'. Gem really was our baby. We bought her as an eight week old puppy, and we have loved her every single day of her life. She was a faithful friend and companion and truly lived up to her name.

At the age of 13 and a half, on December 17th 07, Gem was given peace from her painful arthritis.

We have lost a very special girl and it has left us with a big hole in our lives.

Gem will be loved in our hearts forever.

Gemma

We sadly lost our goldie Gemma in January this year.

She has left such a big whole in our hearts and at the moment feel we will never get over her. She was the most lovable, loyal retriever anyone could wish for. She did not have a malicious bone in her body. She was so gentle with everyone, especially our grandchildren who she adored.

I cant really say that I ever heard her growl. If you had gone out, when you got home, she would come running up to you with something in her mouth, it was the nearest toy she could find and believe me she had a lot of them. I think she had a bigger toy box than my children had. Every Christmas she used to enjoy one of my children opening her presents, she could always smell which ones were hers and got really excited.

I think she enjoyed Christmas's as much as we did. She amazed us how she coped sometimes as when she was 4yrs old she got cancer in the mouth and had to have half her bottom jaw removed. We wondered if she would still be able to swim okay, play with her toys etc. as well as coping with her food. We did not have to worry, nothing stopped her, she just got on with loving life. I dont think there are enough words to express how much we loved her and what love she gave to us.

It just does'nt seem the same anymore going for a walk, especially if it is near water, as we remember just how much Gemma loved it. She had us in hysterics on many occasions with the state she got in. Her best friend was the little westie in the picture who has just sadly died as well. They were virtually the same ages and so grew up together. You could feel the love they had for each other as you saw them playing together.

At the moment we cant talk about her without getting tearful as the pain in our hearts just wont heal but hopefully one day we may be lucky enough to find another golden retriever that we can give our love to.

Mary & Steve Brett

Harvey

We got Harvey from Jan when he was 1 year old.

Sadly at the age of 4, Harvey went to the Bridge

Run free dear Harvey

Jack

Jack was came to us at 7 weeks of age in 1994. He loved the great outdoors of course and was never happier than when up to his ears in mud or water, he especially loved his holidays in North Wales.

He had a healthy life until at the age of 12 his kidneys failed him and a few short weeks after diagnosis and after every option was explored we had to let him go to save him from pain and distress.

Still loved and missed as he will be until we join him.

Sleep well big fella.

Jill

This is in memory of our beautiful beautiful Jilly. We adopted her through retriever rescue from the RSPCA in 2001, when she was about 7 years old. Sadly, she had to be put to sleep a few days ago, at the age of 14 because of arthritis and other problems. We are so glad and lucky to have had her in our lives.

She was a character at times, stealing the bread off the worktops and the sausages off the grill, but also ever-loving. There is now a big void in our lives, which at the moment feels like it will never be filled. God bless Jilly, we will love you forever.

This is Kelly our beautiful ginger kid, my husband nicknamed her scooby

For Kelly
Goodbye to you my precious,
Time to set you free,
To live anew in another place
On the other side from me.

The pain of losing you is so hard to face,
But the joy you gave to us all,
Is far to vast to ever allow,
To many tears to fall

So live again be free my angel.
You’ve earned the right to rest.
While I remember the love we shared
With my precious girl, one of the best.

She didn't think she was a dog, she really was a furry kid.
She is irreplaceable and we were truly blessed to have been her "Mum and Dad" .
We are lost without her.

Lucy imprinted herself into our family for ten short years.  A complete nutter, this photo was taken shortly before she passed away from cancer.  She loved to run through peoples picnics and come out the other side with a pork pie or sandwich, and sat in the sea looking at us to throw her a stone that she never caught.  We would have to drag her out as she was shivering too much!  My kids still nag about us having another retriever, but Lucy was one in a million and until our hearts have mended we look longingly at any retriever and remember our ‘other’ daughter.

With best wishes
Mike and Caroline Watson

Maggie

Maggie was born 5th December 1993 and came to us from rescue in July 1998

and soon settled into our home and loved each new addition to the family as our children arrived.

Maggie was loved by all the family and died 23rd February 2009.

We miss you Maggie.

Molly

Margaret and I are struggling to come to terms with the loss of our gentle and loving retriever, Molly, aged 14. After over 13 years of love and affection, letting her slip into a peaceful sleep was the kindest thing for us to do.

We rescued her when she was just 10 months old and now we miss so many of her loving and watchful ways.  Her joy at meeting young children, going long walks, swimming like an otter or simply the way she would lay down where she could see everything that was happening.

I hope there is a bridge for her to cross and on the other side she will meet her old companions Meg and Jasmin and once again they can play like pups.

We are so grateful for the time we have shared and the happy golden memories she has left us with.

We would also like to say a big thank you to Jan Robison for without her tireless work we would have never met Molly.

Our Golden retriever Pudsey recently passed away & we would like you to add him to rainbow bridge please. Photo attatched.

Pudsey had a tough start to begin with as a puppy he was living with
breeders who fed him with his father & he tried to get his fathers food
and ended up with his father throwing him. Resulting in a broken leg &
jaw. Our Vet took him in and when we met him we instantly fell in love
with him.

We brought him home & after lots of care & TLC he was on the road to
recovery. He had a happy 5years with us & was loved by everyone who met
him. He was always happy, loved to get muddy (often ending up looking
like a pint of Guinness!), loved going in the car and camping, to the
beach and seeing all his doggy friends/people.

He would always get a toy to greet you & do his famous bottom/body
wiggle. Always made us smile.

Sadly he got cancer just before Christmas, and we had to make the
hardest decision ever to let him go.
He is sadly missed by us all & we think about him every day. I am sure
he has found lots of new doggy friends & is lying in the muddiest
puddle he can find!

Rest in peace our perfect pudsey xxxxxxx

Raffles

Raffles was a golden in a million.

He saw me through thick and thin, always knowing when things were tough and just being there.

He lay on my feet in the office, snoring or sighing heavily if he thought I had forgotten his dinner.

We lost him four months short of his 14th birthday.

Rest in peace, best and most faithful of friends.
