Vet Visit

Lastweek, Willow went for her yearly M.O.T all well. Whilst there I read the notices on the wall and board.
One caught my eye, SENIOR DOGS...if your dog is over 7 he is classed as senior. Well, our Woody is now over 7. I had visions of him being a senior as he raced around like some demented banshee, senior, I think not. This dog as only 2 speeds, fast and faster.
Now to add insult to injury, this week came a large white envelope bearing the Veterinary logo. When opened was a questonaire on senior dogs, to be completed and handed in when he goes for his M.O.T. Perhaps one of the questions should have been...does your dog think he's a senior. DEFINATELY not, would be the answer to that one.
It really tickled me at the time, perhaps I should tell Woody...slow down, you're an elderly boy now. :1960
Having said that, we met a couple with a Golden in the forest at the weekend, plodding along, vastly overweight, a senior. On asking his age, 7 was the reply. My words Woody, where did you get your energy from. :bounce:

Senior at 7 !!!!!! Cobi are you listening? she is 7 in a couple of months time !!! and Ginnie at 12 or possibly 13, is 'senior'.... the old devil can still out run me when 'she's on a mission', and the number of times I tell them to put that down or it's nasty spit it out, when Ginnie has a mouthful of stuffing from one of her toys (spent an hour yesterday sewing bits on and holes up)

We've met many dogs including goldens who are very 'portly', both of us carry an extra bit of weight .... but our dogs don't.
On the news yesterday this supposed nation of pet lovers.... 7% of dog owners admit to giving their dogs chocolate :2005:

Oh my..Paddy is 8 and he still loves to play, recently he has had a bad shoulder and we had to restrict his walks, (which he was not happy about) but he is now getting better and we certainly know it..I also think its how you look after them, your gang Lynne are always out and about so I am sure that has something to do with it. :) ..Paddy is going for his MOT on monday so I shall see what they say about him...and see if I get a white envelope... :)

You are as young as you feel and the same applies to our dogs. Some people are old even when they are young. If you know what I mean. :1960

My Lucy thinks she is young but her antics have had to be curbed a little as she had an op yesterday to remove two mammary tumours. One I had found but the other was a surprise. So she is now bedecked in one of my t shirts ( which is a tad too large as you can imagine) fastened up with safety pins so she can't have a nibble I do hate those collars. In the tests beforehand they found that her liver was not functioning as well as it should I will have to worry about that later

She is doing well and has been for a walk this morning. :2362:

Jazz and Candy both went for their M.O.T'S yesterday.
both told they were in good shape for their age. Candy 13 just a couple of weeks ago, Jazz will be 13 in June.
Both on anti inflamatories due to joint and sensory problems, Jazz has ear problems and Candy is nearly blnd and now totally fearless, you need to keep an eye on her or she will follow the wrong people, but is the first out of the door for a walk and will attempt any obstacle in her path. But their hearts are fine and and their enthusiasm for life undimmed.
Golden oldies they may be but still young at heart, and hate to be kept waiting for their meals !!!!

hugs and kisses to Lucy.... :love4 glad to hear that she is up and about, it's amazing that they want to go for a walk so soon after their op, and back to demanding their food.....good idea putting a shirt on her, I cut the arm out of one of Les' old sweatshirts, and put it around Gin's leg with a couple of small bells on her collar, I can't stand those 'tulips' over their heads either. :1999:

Oh poor Lucy :bighug:
Pleased that she is now back on the path to normality. Funny how they remember their tummies, choose what else is happening. They certainly spring back to life quicker than their human counterparts.
Hope her T.Shirt's got some bling on it, just what a girl needs when she's down.

Off to the vets this afternoon. Just for a check up ( that's Lucy not me) Thanks for all your good wishes.

She has managed to take out one of the drains I watched her do this. She was stood up watching the birds and then the back leg came up and the drain was there on the end of her toe. She now wears old t shirts to stop her scratching any more out.

She looks quite trendy as they are held in place by big safety pins. So the height of fashion at the moment because I have seen some very expensive cardigans with safety pins at the front. I don't think she is impressed by this anyway.

Hope you are all well :love4
