So. How
do[/b] I know Bentley's growing fast?
An overly waggy tail ( is there such a things as an overly waggy tail?) just managed to swipe a full glass of sloe gin off the table, all over my cream carpet and into the shoes I'd just kicked off!! AAARRRRGHHHH!!! Actually, I never did like those shoes much, did me a favour, really.
It's a good job I buy 'Vanish' in bulk!!

Hi Lesley!
Bentley seems to be showing all the normal characteristics of a Golden. They never cease to entertain us, even in ways which we wish they didn't.
And remember - he will get bigger, and the tail will grow stronger!! What fun!!
Never mind, they are worth it all. Wouldn't be without Sam for anything.
Big hugs to Bentley, and Best wishes to you, (and better luck with the next Sloe Gin!!!).

Oh dear, steep learning curve Lesley, Goldens have coffee table sized tails. One sweep and everything will go flying. We still wouldn't be without them though.
I've just spent yet another morning wiping down door frames and glass, Woody still prefers to come home and SHAKE. They both shake on command outside after being rubbed down, but he will have the last word.
Don't forget, the bigger he gets, the more will get in the way!!

At least I'm not one for knick knacks on every surface so I don't need to do a de-clutter - and in future I'll be keeping a tight hold of my gin!

Hello Lesley
We have a few golden retriever ornaments but they are well out of the way.
We have 'tide' lines up the door frames, fridge, freezer and back door, when the dog/s brush up against the door frames as they run in from the garden.
The caravan cooker usually has a perfect imprint of a muddy tail up the glass door !!!
When Ginnie had been swimming she always waited and then shook herself as soon as she was in the back of our cars, I still miss the funny things she did.
Cobi doesn't knock things flying, (neither did Ginnie) but Megan my friends (6yr) golden has a 'deadly' tail, she has stayed here many times from the age of 9 months when they've gone abroad...you have to move everything to the back of the tables, her tail sounds like 'steel drums' against the radiators, and you could hear her coming up the stairs wagging her tail well before she appeared in our bedroom... whilst Lottie, Ginnie and Cobi were all fast asleep.

Well, I just think it's nice that obviously Goldens are always wagging their tails, such happy dogs.
I've discovered the tide mark - and the paintwork in the hallway has never been washed so many times, one good shake from Bentley and there it is all splattered again. Oh well, it gives me something to do.

4 golden retrievers and a million wine glasses broken in 30 plus years. The ones with stems seem to break most spectacularly, glass and wine one way and base the other. Happy goldies = another trip to john lewis.

Found a good way of dispensing with the tide mark.
We bought sheets of clear perspex at B&Q and fixed them on the walls that were prone to muck. So much easier than ruining wall paper. There is a sheet behind their duvet, quick wipe with flash and eh presto, all clean again.

Has anyone tried "baby wipes". They shift allsorts of marks, especially the grease marks from Ella's coat...... tide marks on wallpaper, paint, material. We have a chair with loose covers which constantly gets grease marked when Ella walks past it, a couple of wipes....problem solved
Although it makes you wonder what it does to a baby's bottom
