Snake bite

Post by lynn wise »

Just had the most awful shock. A friend of ours, with a Golden and a Yellow lab', let us know that Max the Lab', had been walking in the forest and had been bitten by an Adder. Watch out Bridget and Russell, Jaspers mum and dad.
What a sight, the skin from the bite area died, and went black and came away. There is a raw wound the size of a palm, with a hole going through to the bone. Just imagine how that must hurt. Yesterday, Julie rang me to say they had been back at the Vets and he is pleased with what is happening. Next week Max must go in for skin grafts and to rebuild the lession. Max is the gentlest of dogs, a great big softie who is a friend to everything, it couldn't have happened to a dog that so did not deserve to go through this. The good thing is that the Vet is sure that he will recover fully, we do hope so.
