September Simon.

Post by 65Mile »

Funny how just as you think you know your dog, they have the knack of delivering a bit of a surprise! Take Simon for example, he joined us about 8 years ago, a bit of a hooligan he was, until he experienced a long Dales walk, and Bingo! an almost instant transformation into a lay back undemanding Golden who had the knack of showing his appreciation. He needs approval for everything, even when hungry he likes to be told to eat his food demonstrating a "Is it OK" approach to life and a love of sharing his pleasure.

He bucked the trend yesterday, the little tinker! surprised us by trotting of for a walk all by himself, he has never, ever done that before, Golden`s eh!

And he surprised us twice in one day, he left his body behind, he`s never done that before and I have this awful feeling that he does`nt need it anymore and he won`t be coming back to wag his tail.

I suppose a time will come when I will look back on those magical days when we roamed the Dales together, and those memories will burn bright and make me smile, I do hope so, but not yet I fear for at the moment the smoke is stinging my eyes a bit.

Simon, thank`s for all the joy you`ve given to me.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You know, you might not be able to see him but he'll still be right by your side when you're out on your long walks.

So very sorry to hear this sad news, what a stunning boy Simon is,hes had a lovely life with you, and thats whats matters. Here is a poem a friend of mine once sent me, i hope it helps....x

We Have A Secret

We have a secret, you and I
that no one else shall know,
for who but I can see you lie
each night in fire glow?
And who but I can reach my hand
before we go to bed
and feel the living warmth of you
and touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths
and see ahead of me,
your small form racing with the wind
so young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
in every brook I pass
and when I call, no one but I
can see the bending grass.

So very sorry to read your news Mike and Lesley about dear Simon. Oh how I shall miss seeing him around town occasionally with his dad and dear Benji. Our thoughts are with you, Lesley and Benji at this awful time. Run free dearest Simon.
Our 2 owe their being here because of Simon and Benji. Thankyou Mike.

Im so sorry youve lost a wonderful friend. Simon was very handsome. Its very hard, but I believe Simon is closer to you now its just that we can't see them. I miss my friend Katie so much I'm in tears just thinking about her. It will get a little eaier in time. It also creeps up on you again and again. We never get over them we have them in our hearts forever. Speaking to others on here will help.

So sorry to hear about Simon

We lost our Sally about 5 years ago. Time eases the pain but of course you never forget your best friend. Simon had a wonderful happy life and although you and we are all feeling sad, all he has known with you is happiness. You could not have done any more for him and I hope that one day, like us, you will be able to look back and smile at all those happy memories
